LOCALLY OWNED BUS OPERATORS BEING PUSHED OUT

2010-06-01       Post a Comment

Audio Files:

The Ontario Government’s new process to award school bus contracts will push out locally owned operations. Today in question period, MPP Gilles Bisson says large corporate operations and multi-nationals are moving to the front of the line.

Why would this government put in an rfp process that has the effect of shutting down locally owned school bus operators?”

Bisson says local companies have provided quality service for many decades. “Why would the government have a policy that says we are going to favour multi-nationals that don’t have the same interest in Ontario as locally owned businesses?”

The NDP’s Transportation Critic says he has received many complaints from bus operators across the province. “They want to know what the Liberals have against them. They want to know why the government wants to put them out of business.”
